Arcade Game

Has it really been 2 months since our last post? Ouch! Where does time go?! Apologies to all, will have to get back on track!

So last month we were contacted to recreate an arcade game for a surprise 40th birthday party. The game, Dragons Lair, was a favorite of the birthday boy, he even has the real deal in his basement! I must say the amount of artwork was more than I remember for most 80's games (think PacMan, Donkey Kong, etc.) but it was a fun challenge all the same. :o)
Madagascar Vanilla and Twice Chocolate cake with whipped Chocolate Ganache filling... can you say yum?!!

Indian Themed Cupcakes

Where does time go? Its been a super busy month here at Sweetest Perfections... lots of weddings and special occasions!
We created cupcakes for a wedding earlier this summer for a fun couple celebrating both their Indian and Christian backgrounds. It was such a pleasure meeting with Smita and coming up with a design that would incorporate the traditional colors and designs of an Indian wedding. Nicole of Nicole Thomas Photography was kind enough to share some of the incredible shots she took that day.

2 Feet Tall

This cake was created as a surprise for a groom who loves to scuba dive. At just under 2 feet tall it was one big cake! A set of fins complete the cake. I love working with color (one look at my portfolio will confirm!) and also 3D cakes so this was a lot of fun. On the inside: Twice Chocolate cake with mint buttercream.

Modern Rose Wedding Cake

The couples wedding invitations were the inspiration for this cake design. Bold black rose outlines are randomly placed on the cake and accented with their wedding colors (red and ice blue). The color combination and design lead to a unique and elegant cake. The cake: Lemonade with Raspberry filling, a great summertime treat!

Cherry Blossom Wedding Cake

We've just wrapped up another busy week at Sweetest Perfections.

This cake was created for a bride who chose a Cherry Blossom themed cake with a twist... instead of pale pink she opted for more vibrant pink, orange, and white flowers. 3D chocolate branches climb the side of the cake with the delicate blossoms sprinkled about. On the inside, Golden Yellow cake with Chocolate Hazelnut filling and White Almond cake with Cherry Bavarian Cream filling.... yum!

Camaro Cake

My first car was a 76 Camaro with a 350 under the hood. Too much engine for a teenager just getting her license but you couldn't have talked me out of it. Lots of great memories with that car. When Jami contacted me to have a replica of her husbands car (a 76 Camaro of course) replicated for his birthday I knew even though that week was booked I would somehow find a way to fit it in. French Vanilla cake, raspberry filling, and chocolate buttercream on the inside. The lighting in this picture could have been better... yes, a photography class is on my "to do" list! :)

Jami sent this great email, which I truly appreciate, glad the cake was enjoyed!

"Elizabeth, thank you so very much for a wonderful cake! Anthony loved it, he was REALLY impressed by all the details. It was hard to cut it up all that wonderful craftsmanship, but we took plenty of photos. Oh yeah, and it was delicious too! Everyone at the party was amazed and of course asked where it came from, I was happy to recommend Sweetest Perfections to them. It was a truly fabulous cake, thank you!" Jami

Wedding Cakes and Cupcakes

Here are a couple of the sweets we created this week!

Our fireworks themed cakes are always popular around the 4th of July holiday. Even though we've created a few, the color and design variations still keep each one a unique rendition!

Yellows, oranges, pinks, and reds were on the color palette this week! 4 different flavors of cupcakes round out this display of 325 cupcakes with beautiful pops of color coming from the vibrant table runner and Gerbera Daisies by Bella Flora.

Summertime and Cupcakes

I love cupcakes, especially in the summer. There's just something about the ease of these little treats... no plates, no forks, just moist, delicious cake paired with a hidden filling in the center, and topped with swirls of rich, creamy buttercream... yum! We created these particular cupcakes for a client's wedding reception at the Salisbury House. If you've never been its definitely worth a visit, the architecture and history are incredible.

Monopoly Anyone?

I cant tell you how much fun this cake was to create. Each space on the board represented something special to the couple it was made for and each side of the board a different time in their life. The bride put a lot of thought into the ideas (a surprise for the groom) and all of the little details made the cake. We just recently created their 1st Anniversary cake too!

Peacock Themed Wedding Cake

This 3 tier cake highlighted the peacock theme and colors of the reception. A silvery teal was the base for this design accented with a light eggplant and lime green to follow the decor by Bella Flora. Cake flavors included White Almond with raspberry filling, Buttery Pecan with carmel buttercream, and Sun Kissed Citrus with pineapple filling.

We received this email from the mother of the bride and are glad we could be a part of their special day!

"Good morning- I just wanted you to know how delicious the cake was for Emily’s wedding- It looked beautiful and tasted even better!!!! There were lots of compliments on it- There wasn’t even any extra- I was bummed about that! I will definitely recommend you to other brides, etc. Thank you again very much- Lisa"

Shopping Bag Birthday Cake

We created this cake last month for a client's moms 60th birthday. She gave us a lot of ideas to work with which we took and turned into one fun cake! Shopping is at the top of the birthday girls list but shes also loves Christmas, lobster, hummingbirds, and playing cards. Her favorite color? Red of course! On the inside is Champagne cake and filling.

We love to hear from our clients and received these very kind words from Jeni about her moms cake:

I wanted to tell you that the cake was sooo perfect. Everyone wanted to know who made it and my mom was floored and still talks about it all the time. Thank you so much for going above and beyond- it was truly the highlight of the event. I appreciate your high standard of service and craftsmanship and only wish more people did business the way you do. My highest accolades for your work!!! I will use you anytime I am doing business in the area, only next time I will give you ample notice so you don't have to make last minute accommodations again- I will always remember that, and I am so appreciative! Thank You So Very Much, Jeni

Its about Cake... and so much more!

We have so much fun creating the "perfect" sweet treat for our client's events that it only made sense to start a blog to share a little bit more about what we do, the incredible clients we are fortunate enough to work with, and some of the details behind the photos seen our on website!

So welcome to our blog, come back often to see what we've been up to!
